Endurance produces Character
Categories: Biblical
Endurance is a mandatory intelligence in the Christian life.
Endurance is not speed, it is not skill;
it is not brain, it is not brawn…
endurance encompasses all these intelligences,
and is yet more than the sum of them.
When all these give way in times of trouble, it is a determination to give the reins over to God; a fixation of mind to trust Him, and distrust our own surmisings.
This, is endurance.

So, since we have come to be considered righteous by God because of our trust, let us continue to have shalom with God through our Lord, Yeshua the Messiah.
Also through him and on the ground of our trust, we have gained access to this grace in which we stand; so let us boast about the hope of experiencing God’s glory.
But not only that, let us also boast in our troubles; because we know that trouble produces endurance, endurance produces character, and character produces hope; and this hope does not let us down, because God’s love for us has already been poured out in our hearts through the Ruach HaKodesh who has been given to us.
— Hebrews 5:1-5 (CJB)

The text above contains Hebrew names: below are the Hebrew/English translations:
- Yeshua -> Jesus
- Ruach HaKodesh -> Holy Spirit
The Hebrew is an absolutely beautiful language(!), once you get past the mindsets that persons have put on it. If you’re interested in learning about the language, here is a link to some wonderful videos on it:

The host is quite witty, and makes learning Hebrew very interesting. I’ve not regretted getting an understanding of Hebrew, and I recommend to you. Don’t worry, you don’t have to speak Hebrew. 🙂
