A lie

A lie:
– if it sounds nice,
– if it smells nice,
– if it is decorated so well, that it looks like truth,
– if it shocks or mesmerises the senses,
– if truth is added to it,
– if you’ve already invested in it,
– if others believe it to be true,
– if ‘research’ says that it’s true,
– if you’ve believed it to be true all your life,
– if it has been told for a long, long time…
…is still a lie.

Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord,
But those who deal truthfully are His delight.

Excellent speech is not becoming to a fool,
Much less lying lips to a prince.

And he who speaks lies will not escape.
